The main threats to gibbons in the reserve are hunting, agricultural encroachment, illegal logging, exploitation of non-timber forest products and forest fires. The site is surrounded by six communes with over 40,000 people. Wildlife meat, including from primates, is sold at restaurants nearby ([[#R01436|Rawson et al. 2011]]).
